- ➤ Great Bear Ski Valley will open its ski runs and Kirby Family Tubing Park next week after a brief closure for snowmaking and lift repairs. New Year’s Eve will feature late-night skiing and tubing + a midnight fireworks show, with extended hours from Dec. 20 through Jan. 4. KXRB
- ➤ South Dakota law requires pet remains to be burned, buried to a depth of four feet, composted or rendered within 36 hours, and it is illegal to throw a dead pet in the garbage. Local vets, the Humane Society, or Animal Control (605-367-7000) can help families with proper pet handling. KXRB

- ➤ Sioux Falls is using sound cannons near its Regional Airport, Fairgrounds, Elmwood Golf Course, and Household Hazardous Waste Facility to move winter geese away from aircraft flight paths. The devices will operate only during the day to keep skies safe for holiday travel. KXRB
