  • During Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week, The Banquet has partnered with Lewis Drug to offer hygiene kits for $9.99 that include shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant—these kits will be distributed with meals at The Banquet locations before Christmas to help those facing rising costs.  KELOLAND
  • The Sioux Falls Winter Farmers Market opened last weekend indoors at Mosaic Events Building on North Main Avenue, where 18 vendors offered fresh produce, baked goods, and locally made treats. The market will run nearly every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—helping maintain the summer market spirit during the chilly months.  KXRB
  • Sioux Falls schools and local organizations are hosting a series of holiday events where students, staff and community members can give back through blanket drives, food and clothing donations, and service projects — these efforts support families, veterans and those facing hardships.   • Sioux Falls agencies mark National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness week by informing the public about available help and sharing updated statistics from shelters like Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and Union Gospel Mission.   • Arctic Winter Management — led by owner Dan Pyle — is finishing oil changes and maintenance on its snow removal equipment to prepare for heavier snowfall expected in mid-December.   • Lawrence West, owner of Watecha Bowl, served Indian tacos, bison chislic, wild rice and wojapi at the Timberwolves game on Monday at 7 p.m. at Target Center in Minneapolis after receiving an invitation for Native American Heritage Night from the Red Lake Tribe and the Timberwolves.  KELOLAND

  • Weird Al Yankovic will perform in Rapid City on June 24 and in Sioux Falls on June 30 as part of his Bigger and Weirder tour—tickets go on sale Friday, November 21 at 10 a.m.  KELOLAND

  • Families visited the new Space Explorers Mission Infinity exhibit at the Washington Pavilion, where interactive rocket launches and an alien-making activity allowed kids to experience walking in space as the exhibit opened Saturday, November 15.  KXRB

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Zebra mussels were found in Sheridan Reservoir, making it the second Black Hills waterbody with the invasive species — testing by GFP and federal partners identified two mussels at separate sites during over 1,600 inspections in 2025. Boaters are urged to pull plugs, drain water and dry equipment to help prevent spreading the mussels.  KELOLAND

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sanford Health announced today that it will build a new hospital in Rapid City on a 110-acre site after receiving a $300M gift from philanthropist Denny Sanford — the 480,000-square-foot campus will offer an initial 168 inpatient beds with plans to expand to 336 beds. Construction will begin in 2027 and be finished in 2030, with a ceremonial groundbreaking held today.  SiouxFalls.Business

  • The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic curling trials wrapped up in Sioux Falls after nearly a week of events at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center—curlers and fans enjoyed the sport and officials said the event may help bring more major sports to the city.  KELOLAND
