- ➤ The Domestic Violence Network will bring back its Paint the Town Purple campaign in October to raise awareness of partner violence by inviting residents, businesses — and homes to decorate with purple. - ➤ USD professor Michael Hook returned to his classroom after a federal judge granted his temporary restraining order so he could teach while he sues the Board of Regents and the university over his social media post—alleging his First Amendment rights were lost when he was put on leave. - ➤ Lawmakers approved building a new men’s prison along Benson Road in northeast Sioux Falls, and city leaders like Mayor Paul TenHaken and Vice Chair Jennifer Sigette welcomed the vote while stressing the need for updated rehabilitation programs. - ➤ Today the South Dakota Highway Patrol said it is down 25 troopers from 210 positions and is having trouble filling mostly rural spots—though positions in Sioux Falls are filling normally.
