GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting today, drivers will face changes on West 15th Street as the east side is closed at South Grange Avenue for installing a flashing beacon—part of the 15th Street Bicycle Boulevard project that will run until early December—and drivers on West Batcheller Lane will also experience intermittent lane closures for sidewalk repairs that will finish this week.  KELOLAND

  • Physician Assistant Terrence Keller from Rejuv Medical warned fall sports athletes in Sioux Falls about risks from concussions, knee injuries, and ankle sprains—he advised that athletes rest and seek professional guidance to avoid further harm.  KXRB
  • Last Sunday, officers from Sioux Falls Animal Control safely captured two African Forest Cobras and one Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake after a man who kept a venomous snake in his apartment was bitten. Doctors said treatment depends on the snake type and antivenom is expensive, while Animal Control reminds residents that owning venomous pets is illegal—reptiles are now held at Reptile Gardens.  KELOLAND

  • Spectators filled the final day of Sanford International’s weeklong golf tournament as local high school fans like Brett Stucky and Leo Rozum gathered to see a new champion—attendance stayed steady despite star player John Daly withdrawing.   • Sanford Children's Ambassador Emmett Zorr hit a ceremonial tee at the Sanford International Championship on Sept. 12 at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls—joining Denny Sanford and Mayor Paul TenHaken during the opening ceremony.
