- ➤ Downtown Sioux Falls has seen record crowds at Jacobson Plaza—where its splash pad, dog park and restaurant draw thousands—since it opened two months ago. - ➤ Today at Nelson Park, thousands gathered for LifeLight as community members, pastors, and churches joined a free festival with music, food, and activities. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ 20-year-old Matocika Poor Bear from Manderson was acquitted of involuntary manslaughter after a federal trial on August 28—he was indicted in January for assault during a dispute on November 16 that led to a death at a Manderson home. KELOLAND
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Scott Odenbach, a West River lawmaker from Spearfish, said he may file a bill in the 2026 legislative session to limit water withdrawal from aquifers in the Black Hills—he is concerned that rapid development may cause water shortages and wants to consider alternatives before approving a costly pipeline project.
