- ➤ South Dakota Public Broadcasting will lay off 15 employees by Oct. 31 due to a $2.2 million shortfall from federal funding cuts—the broadcaster will cancel its news radio program In the Moment and public affairs show South Dakota Focus while reducing Dakota Life output. Argus Leader

- ➤ Construction began on Aug. 21 for the first phase of the estimated $200 million Founder's Crossing development in southeast Sioux Falls.
