- ➤ Census data show that some counties are getting younger because high birth rates on reservations and local colleges bring more children and young adults. In contrast, many rural areas still have more older residents as kids move away—this trend may affect local services. South Dakota News Watch
- ➤ On Aug. 12, the groundbreaking for the new Chabad Jewish Community Center took place in Sioux Falls—bringing together community members, religious leaders and public officials—and marked the start of construction at 1221 W. 85th St. The center will include a synagogue, educational and community spaces, a kosher kitchen and South Dakota's first mikvah to serve local Jewish residents. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A pickup heading north on Cliff Ave collided with an SUV that turned from 67th Street North onto the road, closing part of the avenue and sending the SUV's driver and passenger to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries—police ticketed the SUV driver for failing to yield. KELOLAND

- ➤ On Aug. 13, 2025, ten South Dakota companies were named to the Inc5000 list of fastest-growing private businesses, with Phase3 from Sioux Falls showing 955 percent growth. The list (in its 44th year) ranks companies based on three-year revenue and requires them to meet revenue thresholds between $100,000 and $2 million. SiouxFalls.Business
- ➤ Local pet company Roxi & Co. at 501 E. 41st St. partnered with NutriSource Pet Foods and recently arranged a donation of more than 33,000 pounds of pet food, including 6,541 bags valued at $92,000, for four local rescue groups.
