- ➤ Sioux Falls police responded Wednesday night to two aggravated assault reports—one where a work truck driver said a man with a realistic toy handgun threatened him, leading to the arrest of 50-year-old Jason Martinez after a foot chase, and another at a hotel on 10th Street and Conklin where bullet holes and shell casings were found with no injuries and witnesses reported a white SUV fleeing. - ➤ The City of Sioux Falls extended the drop site hours for trees and branches to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through August 11, with the sites remaining open through August 17 to help clean up after Monday’s storm. The sites on Chambers Street near the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and at Lyon Boulevard near the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds are free for residential use and accept only trees and branches — City crews ask residents to use these locations for private property debris. City of Sioux Falls
- ➤ The Technical Education Board approved a $49 million funding request for next year that will add a 2.5% general increase, more funds for repairs, and roll $3 million for equipment into the budget for the four technical colleges — board president Dana Dykhouse said the proposal is typical. The request will go to the state Bureau of Finance and Management and then Gov. Larry Rhoden before lawmakers decide on the final amount in 2026 — the move supports ongoing technical education efforts. KELOLAND
