- ➤ Reed Timmer, a well-known storm chaser with 1.4 million YouTube subscribers, captured powerful South Dakota storms on Monday, July 28th that featured wind gusts of 70&100 mph, tornadoes, large hail and a wildfire sparked by a lightning strike near Chamberlain; he also recorded a massive tornado near Gregory. - ➤ Following yesterday’s storm, the City of Sioux Falls opened two drop off sites for residents to leave branches and trees at Chambers Street — near the Household Hazardous Waste Facility — and at Lyon Boulevard — near the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds. The sites are free and open daily until August 17 with Monday to Saturday hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday hours from noon to 5 p.m., and they accept only trees and branches. - ➤ Beginning at 8:00 p.m. Monday, the eastbound lanes on I-90 in Hartford will be closed until 6:00 a.m. Tuesday—drivers will be diverted via local ramps, and a similar closure will occur from 8:00 p.m. Tuesday until 6:00 a.m. Wednesday with westbound traffic redirected via exit 390. The $12.6 million project is scheduled to finish in June next year. KXRB
