Good morning, Sioux Falls. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 24th of June.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Carla’s Flower Farm, Polar Bites and Roxie & Co. are joining forces on 41st Street after the closure of Cliff Avenue for the new Interstate 229 project made it hard for customers to reach them. They have planted over 700 native plants and plan to improve the boulevard while construction continues for the next two years—business owners say better traffic flow will boost sales once the work is done.  SiouxFalls.Business

CRIME NEWS

  • Sioux Falls police investigated four shootings that happened over the weekend—one on south Majestic View Place where a man was shot in the leg after an argument, another near 11th Street and 2nd Avenue where a bystander was shot in the pelvic area during a fight, and two more on Sunday evening near 12th Street and Summit Avenue where one man was grazed by a bullet, with no arrests made and no life-threatening injuries reported.  KELOLAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sioux Falls is seeing heavy road construction as crews repair sidewalks, driveways, and roads on 41st, Minnesota, West Madison, 264th, Cliff, and 85th Streets—work that will continue into 2026 and later with updates on sewer extensions and interchange upgrades. Lane closures and traffic shifts are in place to keep commuters safe as projects progress.  Argus Leader
  • Crews in Sioux Falls have been repairing nearly 20 buckled road areas caused by extreme heat since Thursday. Street Operations Manager Dustin Hansen said repairs on North Cliff Avenue are underway and crews will likely finish by Wednesday — urging drivers to slow down and report any hazards for safety.  KELOLAND
  • More than 100 state and local officials from states including South Dakota have asked the Senate to repeal the tax credits that pay companies to capture and store carbon dioxide—critics argue the credits waste taxpayer money and favor oil production, putting projects like the Summit carbon dioxide pipeline at risk.  Argus Leader
  • Four sections of the southbound lanes on I-29 buckled over the weekend between exits 150—140 near Brookings due to extreme heat. The South Dakota Department of Transportation reminded drivers on Monday to slow to 30 mph—temperatures are expected to drop with highs in the 70s.  KELOLAND
