  • Serendipity Studio Gallery & Gifts launched the Atrium Makers Market earlier this year in Shriver Square to give local artists and makers a chance to display and sell their work every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The weekly event charges vendors $10 for an 8-foot by 30-inch space and has attracted about 50 to 75 visitors, with plans to grow attendance this summer.  SiouxFalls.Business

BUSINESS NEWS

  • CorTrust Bank is redeveloping a block on Minnesota Avenue for a new two-story branch that will replace its longtime leased facility at 2101 S. Minnesota Ave. Pending city approval, the bank will demolish existing structures—a vacant gas station and a former Sanford Health office—and begin construction later this month with an opening planned for the third quarter.  SiouxFalls.Business

CRIME NEWS

  • Sioux Falls Police arrested 34-year-old Timothy Floyd Farmer for robbing a home on the 1300 block of South Riverdale Road at 6:41 a.m. when he entered through an unlocked door, pointed a gun at residents and stole a 2022 Jeep Cherokee, with police later locating the vehicle on West 26th Street at 9:08 a.m. and Farmer now held at Minnehaha County Jail facing charges for robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, grand theft of a motor vehicle and warrants.  KELOLAND

  • Sioux Falls will host a Juneteenth Family Reunion cookout on Saturday, June 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 212 East 11th Street near Fawick Park — the event will feature music, vendor space, free food from Roy’zzz Premium Cannabis, and information about a $50,000 wealth building gift fund from Nexus Community Partners.  Argus Leader

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On June 18, a city financial report found that Sioux Falls sales tax revenue increased 1.8 percent in May compared with last year, resulting in an overall sales growth of 1 percent through the first five months. The report noted grocery and department store sales rose 5 percent and remote retail climbed 16 percent—while the entertainment tax increased 3.8 percent—and city officials will continue to monitor these trends.  SiouxFalls.Business

  • Sioux Falls was ranked as one of the nation’s top 10 best-managed cities and finished seventh overall in a WalletHub analysis that compared 148 large cities on operating efficiency and per capita spending—showing strong city service quality.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • On Tuesday in Deadwood, agriculture leaders gathered at the 2025 Governor’s Ag Summit and state officials named Glenn Muller as Governor’s Ag Ambassador—recognizing his decades of work in pork and farming. The summit will continue tomorrow—bringing new speakers to discuss market challenges and ways to engage young people in agriculture.  KELOLAND
  • Crews will close both eastbound and westbound lanes on I-90 at Exit 406 from 7:00 p.m. June 25 to 7:00 a.m. June 26 for bridge girder work and again from 7:00 p.m. June 26 to 7:00 a.m. June 27 for bridge deck installation—part of a $41.3 million project scheduled for completion in June 2026. Traffic will be diverted via on-ramps and off-ramps during these overnight closures.  KXRB

  • The South Dakota Department of Health is launching vaccine clinics in western counties after four measles cases were confirmed, including one from an exposure at Rapid City Medical Center Urgent Care on June 10 from 9 to 11:30 a.m.—Clinics will run from June 23 to July 10 at sites in Pierre, Martin, Murdo, Bell Fourche, Dupree, Hot Springs, Custer, Rapid City, Sturgis, Timber Lake and Spearfish to help residents check their vaccination status.  Argus Leader
