- ➤ Eight men suspected of illegally residing in the US are held in Minnehaha County Jail after their Tuesday arrest in Madison—attorney Taneeza Islam said they did not understand the legal process and will likely be moved to Minnesota for deportation. KELOLAND

- ➤ Porter Sculpture Park is now open until Oct. 15 and features a massive 60 foot tall bull head — one of over 60 metal sculptures by Wayne Porter along a self-guided loop at the Montrose exit off I-90. The park welcomes visitors daily from 7 AM to 8:30 PM, including holidays. KXRB
- ➤ Thanks to a $1 million gift from philanthropist Denny Sanford, Levitt at the Falls reached its $5.8 million fundraising goal to add about 6,000 square feet of space, pending approval by the Sioux Falls Parks Board and City Council — the project will break ground this September. The new facility will include a hospitality center and atrium for events and concerts and is set to be operational by fall while the free Levitt season starts May 23 — offering more choices for local artists and audiences. - ➤ South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is working with a contractor to remove two peninsulas of sediment and large trees from McCook Lake after last summer’s flood while volunteers removed small debris and a car from the lake — work aimed at restoring the area after damage along Northshore Drive. The cleanup is scheduled to be finished by Friday, Aug. 1. KTIV

- ➤ The City of Sioux Falls published a list of spring reminders that ask residents to report neighborhood issues for a smoother community experience. Residents should use the city website— or the City of Sioux Falls app— to report problems and keep the city operating well. KXRB
- ➤ Voter Defense Association is launching its 2026 campaign against Amendment L, which would raise the constitutional amendment threshold from a simple majority to 60%. President Matthew Schweich argued this change would favor big money out-of-state groups over local majority voters—he warned that only one-fifth of amendments since 1972 have met a higher standard. - ➤ A consultant report released Thursday on South Dakota’s future corrections recommended building a 1,728-bed replacement for the state penitentiary in Sioux Falls and expanding the Minimum Center by adding 300 beds to bring total costs to up to $2.1 billion. The 81-page report—costing $729,322—said current, overcrowded facilities do not meet modern standards and noted that Project Prison Reset’s task force will meet on June 3 in Pierre. KELOLAND
