  • Sioux Falls nonprofit The Banquet, which serves free meals to families and working poor, began in June 1985 and will mark its 40th anniversary on June 17. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Rhoden named Tonia Warzecha and Greg Von Wald to the South Dakota Board of Education Standards—Warzecha, the superintendent for Dakota Valley in North Sioux City, will soon join the Tea district while Von Wald from Rapid City brings experience as former president of Mitchell Technical Institute and ex-CEO of Golden West Technologies. They replace Terry Nebelsick and Justin Zajic, restoring the board to a full seven members.  KELOLAND

  • West Maple Street has been closed for emergency repairs by MidAmerican Energy between Westport Avenue and the Russell Street frontage road—work will be completed by the end of Friday, May 9—and drivers should use alternate routes and exercise caution.  City of Sioux Falls
  • South Dakota trade and economic development officials are leading a delegation of businesses and industry associations to Mexico this week to boost export sales of agriculture, manufacturing and biotech products — Joe Fiala and incoming CEO Jesse Fonkert will host seminars and meet with Mexican government officials to attract foreign investment in South Dakota.  SiouxFalls.Business
