  • The Teddy Bear Den hosts its 3rd annual Beer, Bourbon and Beef festival at Sanford Barn on Sunday, June 1 from 4pm to 8pm—attendees will sample craft beer, rare bourbons and fire-roasted beef while helping raise funds for a program that supports low-income, immigrant and teen pregnant women. Tickets are $50 for single entry or $400 for a table of up to 8 friends.  KXRB
  • Sioux Falls is hosting the 35th annual Project NICE/KEEP this week to help residents discard unwanted items and lower neighborhood nuisance concerns. The event covers defined areas (the NICE border runs from 26th Street north to 33rd Street south, Southeastern Avenue west to Veterans Parkway east, while the KEEP border stretches from Russell Avenue north, 18th Street south, I-29 west to West Avenue east) and involves teams from several City departments.  City of Sioux Falls

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire on Sunday morning that resulted in a dog's death, and police investigated a crash on E 33rd Street on Saturday that reportedly involved alcohol and damaged two parked cars.   • A Sioux Falls man fell victim to a scam on April 24 when a caller posing as a bank employee persuaded him to empty his account and deposit his funds into a new bank account+ his bank is now working to recover the lost money.  KXRB

  • Sarah Alfano is a professor, gardener and musician at SDSU who manages her family-run greenhouse Medary Acres in Brookings — a local staple since 1952 — and she will perform with her band Hot Freaks in Sioux Falls at the That Sounds Decent concert on June 28th.  KELOLAND

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, Augustana University and Lloyd Cos. broke ground on Foundation Heights, a $12M apartment building for students inspired by the late Craig Lloyd. The four-story project will house over 100 students, with completion planned for fall 2026 — a key step in the university's campus development strategy — as demand for student housing grows.  SiouxFalls.Business

  • The Rosebud Sioux Tribe declared a state of emergency on April 28 because severe weather damaged several communities on the reservation. President Kathleen Wooden Knife announced the decision on the tribe’s Facebook page.  KELOLAND

  • Avera Health and Owens & Minor Inc. opened a new 330,000-square-foot integrated service center at Foundation Park in northwest Sioux Falls—ribbon cutting is set for 4:30 p.m. today on West Memory Circle.
