ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire just before 9 a.m. on Sunday in the 400 block of South Thomson Avenue—fire crews found no residents, put out the blaze in five minutes, and a pet dog died while the cause remains under investigation. KELOLAND
- ➤ A Sioux Falls man, Nate Iveland, suffered fractures in his neck and back on January 29 after sliding headfirst off a vehicle during a snowboarding race at Great Bear—and his surgery and hard work in physical therapy have brought him nearly back to normal. He will return to work on May 5th as local fundraisers and a GoFundMe that raised $20,000 supported his recovery. KELOLAND

- ➤ KELOland’s chief photographer Kevin Kjergaard was featured on CBS Sunday Morning for his nature segment filmed on a crisp morning near Devil’s Tower (Wyoming). The report highlighted the elaborate mating rituals of sage grouse. KELOLAND
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hundreds of volunteers gathered at The Outdoor Campus in Sioux Falls on the weekend following Earth Day to clean up the Big Sioux River, picking up trash and finding items such as a bike and skateboard. Friends of the Big Sioux River hosted a 'Party for the Planet' with family activities — the City of Sioux Falls added stops on the Greenway Trail to boost community efforts. KTIV

- ➤ Mike Dishman, a Garretson man, had tongue cancer found during a routine checkup at Falls Dental in Sioux Falls when his dentist discovered lumps — he completed 35 radiation treatments and seven chemo sessions at Sanford Health, now works full-time in Human Resources, and plans a trip to the Black Hills next month as his voice improves.
