  • Officials celebrated a groundbreaking Tuesday for the new Kuehn Park Aquatic Center, which will replace the aging pool and double its capacity to nearly 700 patrons. The project, budgeted at $15.4 million, will be completed next summer near Valley View Road and Oscar Howe Elementary.  City of Sioux Falls

  • IRA Financial introduced its Up-and-Comer, Emily 'EmJ' Thomson, a project manager using her account management background to boost financial services.   • Hamburger prices across South Dakota have risen as beef, feed and transportation costs increase + ongoing labor shortages drive up wages, prompting restaurants to pass costs on to consumers. The price surge has left shoppers questioning the underlying causes.  KXRB

  • The Lyrid meteor shower peaks into early this morning with clear skies giving local star gazers a chance to see bright meteors and even Northern Lights if solar activity is high. Viewers are advised to choose a spot away from city lights for a clear view.  KXRB

  • Today, crews begin concrete pavement, curb, and gutter repairs on Veterans Parkway as the southbound outside lane and shoulder between 26th Street and 41st Street are closed; one lane remains open and access to businesses and homes is maintained through July.  City of Sioux Falls

HEALTH NEWS

  • Avera Health received a record $35 million gift from B. Thomas Golisano that renamed its new women’s and children’s hospital tower in Sioux Falls—currently under construction east of Avera McKennan. The tower will add 158 beds and expanded services and is expected to finish early 2027.  Argus Leader
  • Active Generations opened Beacom Family Village at 3301 E. 26th St. in east Sioux Falls to expand adult day services for older adults and caregivers; a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place today at 4:30 p.m. and families can schedule tours for personalized care planning.  SiouxFalls.Business

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A house in Harrisburg that was part of the fall Parade of Homes sold for nearly $1.8 million on April 21. The 5,400 sqft home in (Sunny Haven Estates) featured six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a chef-inspired kitchen.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Sioux Falls City Council approved Tuesday a plan to sell 4 acres of former downtown rail yard land to Christensen Development for a $95M project building apartments, retail and office space. The sale funds a tax increment financing district and federal highway project with construction starting later this year.  SiouxFalls.Business

  • Sioux Falls Stampede forward Cooper Soller was named the 2025-26 USHL Rookie of the Year on Monday after earning a spot on the All-Rookie First Team. The team will play Lincoln in Game 3 of its Clark Cup Playoffs on Friday.  KXRB
