  • After four decades of service, Siouxland Libraries Director Jodi Fick announced her retirement, with her final day set for June 20—Fick led library improvements and community access during her time as director.   • The Better Business Bureau and Sioux Empire CrimeStoppers will hold their annual document shredding event on Saturday at four Sioux Falls locations to help protect personal information and support public safety. EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 13, Sioux Falls residents will choose two school board members from four candidates including incumbent Nan Kelly, attorney Elizabeth Duffy, teacher Patricia ‘Trish’ Ringold, and health worker Thomas Werner. The candidates outlined detailed plans addressing education funding, student well-being, bullying prevention, and stronger community partnerships—reflecting diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to enhancing public education—while the winners will take office on July 14.  Argus Leader

  • David Zokaites announced his third bid for Sioux Falls mayor in an April 18 news release, saying he will focus on addressing homelessness and police training. He failed in past efforts—falling short in 2018 and earning 1.9% in 2022—and he will seek the office again in 2026.  Argus Leader
