- ➤ Emergency responders in Sioux Falls received grants Saturday from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for life-saving equipment—$35,247 went to Split Rock Fire Department for rescue tools and $24,337 went to Lennox Area Ambulance for improved communications. KELOLAND
- ➤ About 60 volunteers worked Saturday at Camp Leif Ericson — using chainsaws, rakes, and wheelbarrows — to tidy the camp ahead of summer sessions set to begin in a little over a month. Camp director Justin Lassen said the spring cleaning is critical to prepare for thousands of campers. KELOLAND
- ➤ The 68th Annual Lions Club Pancake Days will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22 and 23 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center—families will enjoy breakfast for supper on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and breakfast, lunch, and supper on Wednesday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets will cost $10 in advance or $12 at the door and will support the Lions Club's children’s hearing and vision screenings while kids 5 and under enter free. - ➤ In 2024, South Dakota farmers planted 3,900 acres of hemp (a 22% rise) and harvested 3,700 acres even as yields dropped 30% per acre. Texas planted 4,900 acres but harvested only 1,500 acres while South Dakota led in hemp fiber processing by handling 23% of the nation’s hemp. Argus Leader
