BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ The Next Chapter sponsors a roundtable on April 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Canopy by Hilton in downtown Sioux Falls to help business owners learn how to optimize a sale and plan a smooth transition—moderated by entrepreneur John Meyer and featuring expert panelists in legal, finance, and investment areas. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Sioux Falls Costco had no eggs in its cooler today — egg prices rose to $6.25 a dozen from $2.99 last year because a bird flu outbreak cut the number of laying hens. Growing demand and inflation drove the higher cost. KXRB
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, the Sioux Falls School District Board tentatively approved a $356M fiscal year 2026 budget (which includes $232M in general fund revenue) that features $3.1M in cuts as federal pandemic relief funds expire. The plan will lower the school levy by 17 cents and cut the School Bus Inc. budget gradually (a $106K reduction halved for now) with a final vote scheduled for July or August. Argus Leader
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ AbbVie Inc., a drugmaker that makes Botox and Humira, filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court after Gov. Rhoden signed a law on March 11 that prevents it from limiting the number of pharmacies hospitals and clinics can use for drug discounts via the 340B program— the suit says the law gives in-state pharmacies an unfair advantage and conflicts with federal rules. Argus Leader
- ➤ Starting May 1, Phillips Avenue will have new parking rules after crews painted white lines showing that drivers must leave at least (10 feet) between the back of their vehicles and the center yellow line, which may reduce available spots for long vehicles. The city also said metered parking will now run on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. while parking in lots stays free after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. KXRB
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A house in the Grand Prairie neighborhood sold for $1,375,000 and topped the highest home sales list for the week of March 24.
