EDUCATION NEWS

  • Niche released rankings of the top 10 South Dakota school districts for 2025 using data from the Department of Education, reviews from parents and students, and test scores and graduation rates. • South Dakota officials announced that planned teacher trainings—including a history summit and road trips to explain new social studies standards—have been canceled because a $2.8 million federal funding cut forced the state to suspend these events. Additional summer programs for students and educators, such as career camps for 600 middle schoolers, have also been halted with plans to seek new funding still uncertain.  Argus Leader

SPORTS NEWS

  • Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum swapped his uniform for a soccer sweatshirt at Friday's briefing to promote a free neighborhood soccer league that lets children from local schools play at nearby parks.
