  • Downtown Sioux Falls hosted its 10th Annual Mash Madness event in March, drawing 2,781 votes and setting records in craft beer, cocktail, and nonalcoholic drink sales. Altered Species Ales, Ironwood Steakhouse, and Perch won their categories, contributing to an estimated $295,000 economic impact + $70,000 in direct sales.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Sioux Falls held its 9th Annual Mash Madness drink competition Tuesday (April 7) as local bars showcased over 30 creative drinks. Nearly 8,000 beverages were served while winners for craft beer, craft cocktail, and non-alcoholic drinks were celebrated downtown.  KXRB

  • Levitt at the Falls announced its Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ All My Relatives Festival was selected to join the Smithsonian Festival of Festivals—part of U.S. 250th Anniversary celebrations. The Smithsonian’s Our Shared Future: 250 initiative funds the project that will showcase Indigenous arts.  KTIV

  • Sioux Falls School District has appointed 32 members to a facilities task force (meeting today and on April 22, May 6 and May 20 at the Instructional Planning Center) to review school facility needs; Donovan Group will report findings by August before a bond election in April 2027.  Argus Leader
  • Sioux Falls native Lauren Teller returned from Washington, D.C. to begin her role as director of alumni engagement and event services at Augustana University on April 7.   • Sioux Falls began planting 5,000 trees using a $3 million USDA grant for its five-year CommuniTree Assistance Program in low-canopy areas; crews work block by block for about two weeks (weather permitting) to expand the urban forest and offset damage from Emerald Ash Borer.  City of Sioux Falls
