  • Downtown Sioux Falls' Arc of Dreams is lit in purple every night this week—honoring National Crime Victims Week from April 6th to April 12th. The display is part of events organized by Marsy's Law for South Dakota to highlight the rights and needs of crime victims.  KXRB
  • The annual community tornado drill will be held on April 9 at 10:15 a.m. in Sioux Falls as part of South Dakota’s Severe Weather Awareness Week — outdoor warning sirens will be activated and residents, schools, and businesses are urged to practice their severe weather plans.  City of Sioux Falls

  • McNally’s Irish Pub at 6211 S. Old Village Place will reopen later this spring under new local owners after closing last year.   • A woman was beaten and robbed near Sunshine Foods Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. while putting groceries in her car — police arrested 20-year-old Peyton Leclaire and recovered her stolen vehicle on South Edward Drive after a short foot pursuit.  KELOLAND
  • Sioux Falls police identified 45 year old Chitprasong Amphavannasouk as the man fatally stabbed in an apartment hallway Friday morning at 4:30 a.m.—and arrested 35 year old Jordan Benedict Adams who now faces charges of second degree murder, first degree manslaughter and aggravated assault.  Argus Leader
  • Sioux Falls Police are investigating a stabbing incident in which a 20-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds near West 41st Street and the I-29 ramp at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday—no arrests were made and injuries were non-life-threatening.  KELOLAND

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Summit Carbon Solutions asked regulators to pause its permit process indefinitely to allow more time to negotiate with landowners who oppose the proposed CO2 pipeline. The Public Utilities Commission will meet on Thursday (room 413) at (2:30 p.m. CT) to decide on the request and set guardrails for the proceedings.  KELOLAND

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A report from April 7 shows that home sales in Sioux Falls increased as closed sales rose 5.3% and new listings rose 5.1% in March compared to last year. Median prices dipped 0.9% to $315,000 while homes stayed on the market for about 90 days — evidence of steady pricing with more buyers entering the market.  SiouxFalls.Business
