COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Great Bear Recreation Park will host an Easter Egg Trail Hunt on Friday, April 3 at 6:10 p.m. The event offers separate age groups for toddlers, youth, and teens and costs $5 per person (registration required) for families to enjoy scenic trails.  KXRB
  • The 11th Annual Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, Apr. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at Falls Park and six other local sites along the Big Sioux River; volunteers are encouraged to pre-register online or show up ready to help clean community spaces.  KXRB

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Seven women were honored at the 46th annual Women in Business event on March 24 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center; they were chosen from 55 nominees and received Women of Excellence awards from Sales & Marketing Executives Inc. of Sioux Falls.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Costco in Sioux Falls asked the city on Monday, Mar. 30 to rezone nearly 3 acres at 3800 S. Grange Ave for a planned parking lot expansion adding 265 spaces (the area south of the store is now a commercial storage facility).  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Silencer Central bought the vacant former Wells Fargo call center (4811 N. Fourth Ave.) on March 30 and plans to demolish the building later this year to expand parking and create a manufacturing park for firearms.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Yesterday, Diamond Mowers introduced the DM360, an all-in-one boom mower with joystick steering + all-wheel steer that gives crews a full view for safer roadside work in Sioux Falls. The locally made machine is aimed at boosting productivity for cities and contractors.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Early Bird will open a new Sioux Falls location at 3101 W. 41st St., replacing the former Jacky’s Burrito Express spot. Demolition starts this week and the restaurant, franchised by Fred and Amy Preator, will open in August with 40 new jobs.  SiouxFalls.Business
  • Christopher and Banks will open a new 5,000 sqft store at Lake Lorraine in May while Aruma restaurant is set to open mid-April — part of a retail wave that includes Kirkland's conversion to Bed Bath and Beyond.  SiouxFalls.Business
