  • Downtown Sioux Falls will host Restaurant Week from April 3 to April 17, where local restaurants will serve unique dishes not on their regular menus—an event celebrating local chefs.   KXRB

  • Sioux Falls business owner Madison Rietz launched her online pet boutique, The Barket, on Feb. 1 to offer high quality dog products from local small businesses. She delivers orders (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) to customers.  SiouxFalls.Business

CRIME NEWS

  • Sioux Falls police are searching for three men after a pizza delivery driver was robbed on Thursday night when the suspects approached him around 9:45 p.m., implied they had a gun—though no weapon was seen—and took a small amount of cash before fleeing, leaving the driver uninjured.  Argus Leader
  • Sioux Falls man Shadrich William Sides, 33, pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamines and no contest to second-degree robbery for an October 21 incident at Casey's gas station where he used a knife to take cigarettes and money—his sentencing hearing is not yet scheduled.  Argus Leader

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction of South Veterans Parkway will begin Wednesday, March 26 as crews close South Southeastern Avenue between Bison Trail and 85th Street for utility installations and roadbed work. Traffic will be detoured via 85th, Sycamore and 69th and additional closures include South Santa Rosa Court’s east loop on Monday, March 24 and a bike trail at Tuthill Park on Tuesday, March 25—drivers are urged to use caution near work zones—with projects expected to complete soon.  City of Sioux Falls
  • South Dakota's Office of Highway Safety and the South Dakota Broadcasters Association are sponsoring Lesson Learned—an online safe driving contest that gives high school students aged 14 to 19 a chance to win $10,000 and a matching award for a school program. Students must complete a short quiz by April 30 to enter as part of efforts during Distracted Driving Awareness Month.  KXRB
  • Sioux Falls has approved a new power service building to replace the century old facility that serves the Traffic, Light and Power division. The modern building, which will measure 60000 square feet and house traffic operations along with engineering, will begin construction in over 30 days — it is expected to be complete in about 18 months.  KXRB
  • The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will hold a protest against privatizing the Postal Service at Fawick Park on Sunday, March 23rd at 1 p.m. The rally (called Fight Like Hell!) is part of a national effort to defend mail jobs and services.  Argus Leader

Between 8 AM and 8 PM on Saturday, March 29th, customers are invited to fill up their gas tanks with Unleaded 88 at any of South Dakota’s 11 Kwik Star locations for just $1.88 per gallon.
