On March 20, the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance honored community leaders, business partners, and economic development champions at its annual meeting and awards banquet.

Longtime Sioux Falls chef Jess Blodgett invested in new kitchen equipment and began selling items at the Brandon Farmers Market on March 20 as she shifted from a café model to focus on catering orders.
She said the floor-stand mixer, convection oven, and 10-burner range — which triple her production capacity — helped meet growing customer demand.
🎓 Education
Gov. Larry Rhoden signed four bills on Wednesday that cut funding for some education programs while adding money to others.
The changes shift the dual enrollment cost share to a 50-50 split for high school students and bar new enrollments in a teacher certification program, while $4 million is allocated for technical college equipment and extra district payments rise up to $137,000.

The City of Sioux Falls will begin construction on a new intersection at Arrowhead and Veterans Parkways on March 26.
Arrowhead Parkway will close east of the intersection and Veterans Parkway will run one lane each way during the first phase of work—expected to last through the end of 2025—while drivers are advised to plan for delays.
🏥 Health
South Dakota recorded 50 flu deaths this season, the most since 2017-18, as flu cases rose 192% above the five-year average — state data show a 17% drop in vaccinations from last season.
Health officials warn that lower vaccine use may worsen the outbreak.

Between 8 AM and 8 PM on Saturday, March 29th, customers are invited to fill up their gas tanks with Unleaded 88 at any of South Dakota’s 11 Kwik Star locations for just $1.88 per gallon.
