EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Larry Rhoden and USD President Sheila Gestring signed a bill on Tuesday, Feb. 24 allocating $40 million for a new track-and-field facility (Gassen Family Fieldhouse) at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.   • The city began removing ash trees at Yankton Trail Park on Feb. 23 to manage risks from the Emerald Ash Borer along the Big Sioux River. The project will finish early March, with officials assessing cleared areas for replanting (a CommuniTree Assistance Program initiative).  Argus Leader
